Butler-Cowley County Livestock Workshop Series


Cowley County and Butler County 4-H'ers enrolled in the Beef, Bucket Calf, Swine, Sheep and Meat Goat projects are invited to take part in the Cowley-Butler Livestock Project series!  Join project leaders, volunteers and industry professionals to increase your knowledge and skills with hands-on training in your projects. 

 A fee of $5.00 per class, or $20 for 5 classes will be charged to help defray costs.

Workshops will be:
January 31st, Butler Community College; 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Selection your project and Nutrition for the 4-H show prospect
February 12th, Winfield Fairgrounds- Building 1; 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Daily Care and Wellness
March 16th, Butler County Fairgrounds; 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Hands-on showmanship clinic
April 23rd, Winfield Fairgrounds- Building 1; 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Pre-Fair preparation

Sunny Hills 4-H Camp

Rock Springs 4-H Center, June 5-8, 2019

Sunny Hills Camp will be held June 5-8 at Rock Springs 4-H Center near Junction City, KS.  Sunny Hills 4-H camp includes the following Kansas Extension Units:  Southwind (Allen, Bourbon, Neosho), Flint Hills (Chase, Morris), Rolling Prairie (Chautauqua, Elk), Cherokee, Cowley, Wildcat (Crawford, Labette, Montgomery, Wilson), Greenwood, Harper, Harvey, Lyon, Reno, Sumner, Woodson. 
4-H Camp is open to all youth who have completed 3rd through 7th grade in May 2019.  Camp activities include:  canoeing, exploring, disc golf, horseback riding, swimming, crafts, archery, campfires and more!
Registration is due Friday, May 3.  Checks should be made payable to:  Cowley County 4-H Council, P.O. Box 538; Winfield, KS 67156.  NOTE:  Payment must be received in order for registration to be complete.

Cowley County 4-H Council offers $50 scholarships.  Apply here.  Scholarship applications are due in the Extension Office by May 3.  Additional camp scholarships will be available through the 4-H Development Fund.  4-H'ers must complete the 4-H Council application to be eligible for Development Fund scholarships.
Camp Counselors Needed

Sunny Hills 4-H Camp is an opportunity for older 4-H’ers to gain positive leadership skills through service as a camp counselor. Counselors must be at least freshman-complete, however, preference is given to those who are sophomore- complete. Counselors will attend Counselor Training June 4-5.
