4-H/FFA Fair Livestock Tagging Policy
Livestock Fair Tagging policies and procedures are now combined in one policy. The purpose of this policy is to establish clear guidelines for livestock identification and tagging for 4-H and FFA youth participating in the Cowley County Fair. Proper tagging ensures eligibility for competition, including participation in the Rate of Gain contest, and upholds consistency and safety in livestock management practices.

Help Us Improve the Fair
What can we do to improve the Cowley County Fair? This is the procedure you should follow:
- Fair suggestions must be submitted to the attention of the 4-H PDC in writing. Electronic versions (email/ fax) will also be accepted. Verbal recommendations will not be considered.
- Your suggestions must be signed and dated. Suggestions will not be considered without a dated signature.
- All suggestions are due by September 5, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Suggestions will not be considered after the deadline.
- Suggestions should be turned in or mailed to: Cowley County Extension Office, 311 E 9th, PO Box 538, Winfield KS 67156. The 4-H Program Development Committee reviews all department evaluations and acts on written recommendations which are then made to the Fair Board. Verbal recommendations CANNOT be considered.
- 2026 Fair Theme suggestions can be submitted from 8/11/25 to 10/1/25.
4-H Fair Grievance Procedure
The Cowley County Extension Council Executive Board has approved revisions to the 4-H Fair Grievance policy. The Fair Grievance policy now has an option for a confidential grievance, timelines were updated, and clarification of penalties and corrective actions were added. The 2025 Official 4-H Fair Rule Book is now available.
Complete rules and class numbers are included in the 4-H Fair book. Printed copies of the 2025 fair book were mailed to 4-H families on June 3rd, who were enrolled as of May 1, 2025.
4-H Families will submit pre-entries online at https://cowley.fairwire.com (the link will be active June 3-July 2, 2025).
Step 1: Create an account/sign in on ShoWorks: https://cowley.fairwire.com
Step 2: Each exhibitor will need their own account. Families are encouraged to create a "Quick Group" account for the family and add individual exhibitors to it.
Step 3: Complete Exhibitor Information
Step 4: Members can only exhibit in the classes of projects in which they are enrolled.
Step 5: Utilize your included 4-H Fair Rule Book to locate your Department, Division and Class numbers.
Step 6: Add entry to cart.
Step 7: It will automatically take you back to "Choose A Department" for more entries.
Step 8: When you have finished entries click "Continue".

Cowley County Fair King & Queen Contest
This contest is designed to bring to the attention of the general public the outstanding youth of our county, to promote youth development organizations involved with the fair, and to promote the Cowley County Fair.
Entry deadline is July 1, 2026. All applications will be reviewed by the judging committee prior to the fair. Late applications will not be accepted.

Foodstand Shift Manager
Each club is required to have a shift manager. The shift manager must be a responsible adult or teen. Shift managers should recruit workers, view the shift manager orientation video and turn in a list of volunteers to the Extension Office by Thursday, July 24, 2025.
